    In the first half of the 1970s in Romania as a tactical analog Soviet semi-automatic rifle developed a new SVD sniper rifle chambered for 7.62x54R, which received the designation «PSL» (Pusca Semiautomata cu Luneta - semi-automatic rifle with a telescopic sight).

    PSL rifles were given the designations PSL-54C, FPK, FPK Dragunov, Romak-3 (Romanian Avtomat Kalashnikov 3) and SSG-97 (ScharfSchutzenGewehr 1997) and released as chambered 7.62x54 mm and 7.62x51 mm under .
