    Airlines antitank missile system "Whirlwind" is designed to defeat armored vehicles, including those equipped with reactive armor, and low-speed air targets flying at speeds up to 800 km / h

    Development of complex started in 1980 in Instrument Design Bureau (NPO "Accuracy") led by Chief Designer AG Shipunova. Adopted in 1992.

    By early 2000, the complex was used for anti-tank attack aircraft Su-25T (Su-25TM, Su-39, suspended to 16 missiles in two launchers AAP-8) and the combat helicopter Ka-50 "Black Shark" (hangs up 12 missiles at two PU).
